Judge Assignment in Hillsborough County
13th Thirteenth Judicial Circuit - Tampa

In some Florida counties defendants’ cases are assigned to judges randomly. However, in Hillsborough County, (13th) Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, some criminal cases are uniquely assigned to judges’ divisions by name. In order to separate the caseloads fairly, Misdemeanor and/or DUI (Driving Under the Influence) cases in Hillsborough County are separated alphabetically by the first letter of the defendant’s last name.

Judge James Dominguez - Courtroom 17 (Division A)

Judge Dominguez handles all cases, traffic and misdemeanor, for defendants whose last names begin with the letters "G," "S," "O," and "U."

Judge Margaret Courtney - Courtroom 10 (Division B)

Judge Courtney, whose Courtroom is located on the first floor of the Courthouse, handles all traffic and misdemeanor cases for defendants whose last names begin with the letters "B," "F," and "P."

Judge John N. Conrad - Courtroom 21 (Division C)

Judge Conrad handles all traffic and misdemeanor cases for defendants whose last names begin with the letters "D," "M," "N," "X," and "Y."

Judge Cheryl Thomas - Courtroom 20 (Division D)

Judge Thomas handles all traffic and misdemeanor case for defendants whose last names begin with the letters "C," "K," and "R."

Judge Lawrence Lefler - Courtroom 19 (Division E)

Judge Lefler handles all cases, traffic and misdemeanor, for defendants whose last names begin with the letters "H," "L," and "W."

Judge Paul L. Huey - Courtroom 19 (Division G)

Judge Huey handles all traffic and misdemeanor cases for defendants whose last names begin with the letters "A," 'E," "J," "I," "Q," "T," "V," and "Z."

Judge Nick Nazaretian – Courtroom 53A (Division F & T)

Judge Nazaretian presides over this Counties Specialized Division, handling all Division F misdemeanor Domestic Violence and Non-Criminal Non-Traffic cases. Judge Nazaretian, as an Administrative Judge also handles Division T Animal control civil infractions, Petitions for animal custody, School Smoking citations, water citations, vessel citations, littering, Consumer Protection.

Judge Art McNeil - Plant City Courthouse (Division P)

If you were arrested east of Route 301 in Hillsborough County, your case will be assigned to the Plant City Courthouse. Located at 301 N. Michigan Avenue in Plant City, the Courthouse only has one criminal court room. Judge McNeil presides over all cases in Plant City regardless of the spelling of your last name.

Judge Daniel L. Perry – Courtroom 16B (Felony Division K)

Judge Perry handles all felony violation of Probation (VOP) cases in Hillsborough County where the defendant was violated for a new misdemeanor case while on felony probation or a technical violation.
